E40i - The easily
placed electric winch
The coach roof is the normal place for a winch
that operates halyards, reef lines, outhaul and
control lines. The E40i winch is built up around
an electric motor which is totally integrated in
the drum. Only three thin cables are protruding
to lead through the coach roof or the deck, no
large cutouts and no external motor or gearbox.
This makes for uncompromised headroom down
below which is normally not the case with electric
Self-tailing function and 3-speed operation.
Two really large aft cabins with full-size beds measuring 1.50
by 2 meters - impressive. The toilet and shower room also
has "grown-up" dimensions and the kitchen - the word "galley"
would really not do justice to this area - is another space
Amidships is the comfortable saloon, with a two-seater sofa to
port and a small navigation table at the front bulkhead. Opposite
is a U-shaped sofa around a large table that folds out to double
in size, but which can also be lowered to turn it into a lounge
area for chilling out or the occasional extra double bed. All with
plenty of air and light, thanks to the hull windows, the windows in
the cabin superstructure and several hatches in the deck.
The owner's cabin is in the bow. With a king-size bed measuring
1.73 by 2 meters, with views from the bed through the hull windows
to the outside, with plenty of storage and stowage space
and room to move around even when the saloon door is closed,
this is remarkable for a 38-footer!
All in all, the very positive impression remains that the new Bavaria
C38 is an exciting and above all versatile yacht. She would
love to be sailed in a sportive way, because she has the potential
to do so. But even if a family crew is a little more relaxed at sea
she will not be slow but probably always easy to handle and
to control. And her other great strength is in the harbour or at
anchor, when the above-average living comfort really comes
into its own. Be it the large cabins and beds, the bright saloon,
the gourmet kitchen or even life on deck, in the wide cockpit
enhanced by the bathing terrace.
