Below deck the ship has, as previously mentioned, an unprecedented

volume. Kuhn: “To begin with, we are around ten centimetres
wider than many others. And we have maximised the living
quarters with the wide stern; for the first time we have rectangular,
double quarter berths! This was possible because we pulled
the habitable space all the way aft and also forwards to the bow.
In addition, this also results in a gigantic saloon. In total, we have
perhaps 25 percent more volume than other boats of similar size”.
The pictures shown here of the elegant and light, but also functional
interior say it all. The construction method is the same
as that already developed for other Bavaria yachts: Sandwich
laminate on the hull sides, a full laminate below the waterline,
plus laminated bulkheads. The design of the furniture is clear
and modern, creating an environment of elegance and comfort
on board. Interior layout choices include two or three cabins and
one or two heads. The galley is angled like in the Bavaria C45 and
50 and very large. Finally, the saloon has a large, U-shaped sofa
around a folding table: This allows the mess to be converted into
a wonderful “chill area” with in just a few seconds. Or, if necessary,
into another occasional double bed. Opposite is a longitudinal sofa
and the chart table.
There is plenty of light and air everywhere below deck and life on
board should be extremely pleasant, even over a longer period of
time. With the Bavaria C42, Cossutti Yacht Design and the Bavaria
Yachts team have once again come one step closer to the eternal
quest for the ideal: A sailing yacht with the best performance, yet
easy to sail and simple to maintain, structurally solid, but at the
same time with light displacement and an unmistakable design.
