SYNCHRONIZED MAI N FURLI NG
Upgrade your
furling mast to
electric drive
To make sail handling easier for a small
crew we have synchronized an electric
motor in the mast with a newly developed
electric winchfor the outhaul, E40i.
The mast motor can be retrofi tted to
Seldén furling masts type RB and RC
(~36-50’ yachts).

As with earlier Bavaria yachts, there are various options of sail
plan, with a self-tacking jib or overlapping genoas of different
sizes. “But since we have positioned the mast pretty much in the
middle”, says Kuhn, “the self-tacking jib is already very effective
here and a perfect solution, especially for all family crews”. There
is also a short bowsprit for the anchor system and for the Gennaker
or Code 0 sail.
“The connection of man and yacht is remarkable here”, says Pascal.
“The steering system works extremely direct thanks to very
short distances. And it can be reached very easily through a large
hatch in the cockpit floor if there should ever be anything wrong
there. In general, with the Bavaria C42, we have taken great care
to ensure that this yacht is not only easy to handle under sail, but
also in terms of maintenance and care. Technology and aggregates
are all within easy reach. For example, the aircon system.
It is located under the settee in the saloon, very central, and is
particularly efficient thanks to short distances. And of course it is
also very easy to reach”.
