Amsterdam – Hoorn – Cologne – Koblenz – Rüdesheim – Mannheim – Speyer – Strasbourg
Day 1: Amsterdam – embarkation
Embarkation in the Dutch capital Amsterdam with
its typical enchanting town canals. After having
familiarised yourself with your floating hotel, your
cruise director will invite you to a welcome cocktail
before your welcome dinner will be served.
Day 2: Amsterdam (UNESCO World Heritage) –
After your breakfast you can join a sightseeing tour
and a cruiser trip in order to see Amsterdam’s most
important points of interest (optional). This tour will
be continued by a coach excursion (optional) to the
fishing village Hoorn in North Holland, where you
will re-board your cruiser. Thereafter, you may enjoy
the first miles of sailing on the river on board your
comfortable hotel vessel.
Day 3: Cologne (UNESCO World Heritage)
The famous cathedral city of Cologne will be reached
after lunch. Look forward to a sightseeing tour (optional),
during which you can explore the surroundings
of the cathedral, admire the Roman Dionysos
mosaic as well as the mikvah (Jewish ritual bath).
Naturally, once you are here, a visit to Cologne’s cathedral
is an absolute must (depending on opening
hours, church services etc.).
Day 4: Koblenz and Moselle Excursion
Koblenz, the city of the German Corner (‘Deutsches
Eck’) will be reached early in the morning. During
a sightseeing tour (optional) you will be able to
explore one of Germany’s oldest and most beautiful
cities. The circular walk will take you from the
‘Liebfrauen Kirche’ (Our Ladies Church) to the Kaiser
Wilhelm memorial. Naturally, you will also be shown
the city’s landmark, the ‘Schängelbrunnen’ fountain.
After your lunch on board, there will be a coach
excursion to Cochem on Moselle (optional). The harmonic
triad of Moselle landscape, thousand years
of wine-growing and local culture is the reason why
this town is so popular. Do under no circumstances
miss the sightseeing walk of Cochem, after which
local wines will be tasted!
Day 5: Castles along the Rhine (UNESCO World Heritage)
Your cruiser will leave Koblenz in the early morning
hours. You will then travel along medieval castles
and the legendary rock Loreley before your floating
hotel will dock at Rüdesheim in the early afternoon.
Dip into the changing history of this town during a
sightseeing walk and enjoy “Siegfried’s Musical Cabinet”,
a musical adventure with antique computers
(optional). “Cast-off” at Rüdesheim in the evening.
Day 6: Mannheim (Heidelberg) – Speyer (UNESCO
Mannheim will be reached in the morning. Today’s
excursion will take you to the famous students’ town
Heidelberg (optional). You will be met by a largely
intact baroque historic town with medieval proportions
which has survived the bombings of World War
II. Lunch will take place on board while your cruiser
will head for Speyer. At every turn, you will be able
to experience the history of the former capital of the
Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation during a
sightseeing walk (optional). You will by enchanted
by its magnificent buildings of different epochs, its
romantic alleys and its busy squares. During your
dinner, your captain will navigate to the last highlight
on your cruise; Strasbourg.
Day 7: Strasbourg (UNESCO World Heritage)
Strasbourg will be reached in the morning. A sightseeing
tour (optional) will take you past the European
institutions, such as the European Council, the
European Court of Human Rights and the European
Parliament. After your lunch you will be able to join
a land excursion (optional) along the Alsatian wine
route with wine-tasting on a wine-growing estate.
Thereafter, return to your cruiser and enjoy tonight’s
Day 8: Strasbourg – disembarkation
Disembarkation after breakfast.
