Imogen Fowler
LAWYER, HOGAN LOVELLS, SPAIN
Imogen Fowler is a partner at Hogan Lovells in
Alicante and has more than 15 years’ experience
working with brand owners. Fowler advises clients
on EU trademark and design matters, and manages
various pan-European and global portfolios. She
specialises in the food and beverage, fashion, life
sciences and media industries. Fowler has worked
with famous brands such as adidas, Starbucks
and Mars in successfully defending their brands
in the EU. She is also vice-chair of the Marques
brands and marketing team as well as a member
of INTA.
Tamara Fraizer
PARTNER, SQUIRE PATTON BOGGS, US
As a partner at Squire Patton Boggs, Tamara
Fraizer is responsible for helping clients to assess
IP-related matters, leverage and enforce IP rights,
and defend themselves against IP claims. Fraizer
has a PhD in population biology, and her legal
expertise spans industries including life sciences,
medical devices, data analytics, pharmaceuticals,
and consumer healthcare products. As a patent
litigator, she has argued patent cases before
federal courts across the US, as well as at the
US International Trade Commission. Fraizer is
also qualified to prosecute patents before the US
Patent and Trademark Office, and she oversees
post-grant challenges to patents.
Penny Gilbert
PARTNER, POWELL GILBERT, UK
With a strong life sciences background, Penny
Gilbert has represented clients in patent disputes
before the English courts, the European Patent
Office, the Court of Justice of the European Union
and the European Free Trade Area Court. Her
experience extends to litigation and arbitration
over patent licences, advising on pharmaceutical
lifecycle management and providing due diligence
advice. She has been a partner at Powell Gilbert
since 2007, and is past president of the European
Patent Lawyers Association and a member of its
advisory board. She is also a member of IPLA,
AIPPI and LES. A frequent public speaker, she
is a tutor on the Oxford University diploma in
intellectual property law and practice course, and
teaches patent litigation.
Sue Gilchrist
HEAD OF IP, HERBERT SMITH
FREEHILLS, AUSTRALIA
Sue Gilchrist is the head of the Herbert Smith
Freehills intellectual property practice in Australia.
She has extensive experience in patent, trademark,
passing off, and copyright litigation. Her notable
cases include Apple v Samsung where she acted as lead
partner for Apple in patent and design litigation
relating to tablets, smartphones and 3G mobile
connectivity technology. Gilchrist has represented
clients in a range of industries including electronics,
medical devices and entertainment.
Sally Gillis

ISRAEL
Since becoming a lawyer in 1988, Sally Gillis has
represented national and state governments,
public corporations, universities, broadcasters and
publishers on three continents. She is admitted to
practise in Australia, Israel, and the UK, and her
practice focuses on patent and copyright laws
across different jurisdictions. She has provided
advice to corporations including Apple, Alibaba,
and Visa. In 2018, Gillis represented several
multinational clients, such as Dow Agrosciences,
in their Israeli patent matters. Gillis was also a
member of the Israel Justice Ministry committees
tasked with the re-drafting of Israel’s trademark
and copyright laws.
Ida Gjessing

GJESSINGREIMERS AS, NORWAY
Ida Gjessing earned her law degree at the
University of Oslo and holds a lawyer’s practising
certificate. She has worked as an associate at the
Office of the City Advocate in Oslo, as a trainee
at the Court of Justice of the European Union
from 1994 to 1995, and then as a deputy judge
at the Jæren District Court. She began practising
as an attorney at Nycomed Amersham before
joining Advokatfirmaet Wiersholm and finally
Advokatfirmaet GjessingReimers AS, this time
as a partner. She has experience in all areas of
intellectual property, but has tended to focus
on design, trademark, and patent law. She often
represents clients in the media, culture, life
sciences, food and health industries.
