Beatrice Morley was appointed
global head of casualty for Aspen
Re in 2017 and is responsible for
the management of Aspen Re’s
global book of casualty reinsurance
business. She is currently based in
Singapore but travels frequently
working closely with the
underwriting teams in other Aspen
offices around the world.
She joined Aspen in 2011 to
develop the Asian casualty treaty
and facultative book of business for the Singapore office. In 2015,
she was appointed head of casualty treaty for Asia-Pacific with
responsibility for all of Aspen Re’s casualty lines of business in the
region.
Morley started her re/insurance career in 1998 after completing
a legal management university degree in the Philippines, and has
worked for Aon, Swiss Re and Catlin.

Lara Mowery leads Guy Carpenter’s
global property center of excellence.
She provides the framework for
the direction of Guy Carpenter’s
thought leadership and tactical
execution of its property initiatives.
Mowery also plays a key role in
the application of technology to
streamline business processes and
advance data initiatives across Guy
Carpenter’s broking infrastructure
globally.
She has responsibility for GC MarketPlace, a revolutionary webbased
reinsurance placement system launched in January 2015
covering all lines of business worldwide. She is an advocate for
advancing the use of technology within the industry and is the Guy
Carpenter business lead for the reinsurance placement blockchain
project conducted jointly with reinsurance industry participants.
Mowery specialises in creating solutions for particularly difficult
risks and is credited with developing several best practice tools
and contract language solutions for the property marketplace. She
has extensive experience with state residual insurance markets and
government pools and has worked with entities in Florida, California,
New Madrid, Hawaii, Texas, Louisiana and New York in the US. She
has also advised government-sponsored facilities in Europe, Mexico,
Taiwan and Turkey, as well as with the World Bank.
With the rise in global concern relative to climate change, Mowery
has coordinated resources from several practice groups and more
broadly outside the firm to develop a deeper understanding of the
potential consequences and industry response.
She has spoken on the topic at several recent events including
the Bermuda Climate Risk Forum in association with the Bermuda
Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) and Convergence 2019.
Mowery is a member of the American Red Cross Minnesota Region
board of directors, Hamline University Business School board and the
broker advisory board of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and
Reinsurers (ABIR).
