Judith Klugman is global head of
insurance-linked securities (ILS)
sales for Swiss Re’s Capital Markets
business unit that facilitates capital
market risk transfer activities,
from catastrophe bonds to sidecar
structures. She oversees activities
such as bookrunning, investor
new issue activity and secondary
catastrophe bond trading.
Klugman has been a pioneer in
the market, joining Swiss Re Capital
Markets in 1999 to help develop the sector. During the past 20 years
she and her team have been at the forefront of the development of
the ILS sector. Her team has daily contact with a wide array of leading
global institutional investors and have sold approximately $20
billion in ILS to over 100 investors and is recognised as the #1 team
by league table standings (1997–2019). In 2013, she was honoured as
Outstanding Contributor of the Year by Trading Risk for consistently
aiding the sector in its development from an early stage.
Klugman joined Swiss Re from Morgan Stanley, where she
was employed for more than seven years working primarily on
the structuring and placement of private, esoteric asset-backed
securitisations.
She holds an MBA in finance from the New York University and a
BA from Lafayette College.
JOAN LAMM-TENNANT

Joan Lamm-Tennant is the chief
executive officer and founder of
Blue Marble Microinsurance, a
startup with a mission of providing
socially impactful, commercially
viable insurance protection to the
underserved. A UK corporation
owned by eight insurance
entities, Blue Marble incubates
and implements microinsurance
ventures that advance food
security, financial inclusion and
microentrepreneurship.
Lamm-Tennant was previously the global chief economist and
risk strategist of Guy Carpenter. Prior to that, she was the founding
president of General Reinsurance Capital Consultants. Lamm-
Tennant serves on the boards of Hamilton Insurance Group, Element
Financial Corporation and Ambac Financial Group.
Before joining industry, she was a tenured professor of finance at
Villanova University where she held the Thomas Labrecque Chair in
business. Upon joining the industry, Lamm-Tennant was an adjunct
professor at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania where
she held the Laurence and Susan Hirsch Chair in international
business.
She has received many awards including the 2017 Insurance
Industry Charitable Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, the
2016 Wharton MBA Excellence in Teaching Award, the 2013 APIW
Insurance Woman of the Year and the 2012 International Insurance
Society Kenneth Black Award for service and commitment to the
advancement of the global industry.
She holds a PhD in finance and investments from the University of
Texas, Austin, and an MBA in finance from St. Mary’s University, San
Antonio, Texas.
