KATIE PARTINGTON HOWARTH
Job title: Group head of ceded reinsurance
Company: Argo Group
Katie Partington Howarth has
nearly 20 years of experience in
the reinsurance industry, spanning
underwriting, broking and
analytics. She currently serves as
group head of ceded reinsurance
at Argo Group. In this role, she
is responsible for the strategy
and execution of all of Argo’s

She would describe her and her
team’s goal as helping Argo’s business to trade forward in the event of
volatility in order to deliver on their promises to clients.
Howarth was previously head of underwriting risk at Argo Group’s
reinsurance operation, Ariel Re, having served in a succession of
senior underwriting roles since the company’s formation in 2005. At
Ariel Re, she led several initiatives that were integral to the company’s

today. She joined Ariel Re from Benfield, where she spent four years
as a risk analyst and broker specialising in property cat and worker’s

in Bermuda and moved to the island to take it.
Howarth is a keen voice for women in the insurance industry,
frequently speaking about what the industry can do to nurture
their female professionals. She has been a mentor for the Bermuda
