If you had chosen a different profession/career path, what
would it have been?
If I had not studied law I would have taken English as I loved
books and the theatre when I was growing up and wanted to
be an actress or a journalist.
Why did you choose to work in this industry?
After studying law I wanted a career where I would be able
to use my legal and analytical skills. Legal liability claims was
a good start, but little did I know at the time that I would
still be in the industry 30 years later.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Taking a leading case (Lloyds TSB pensions mis-selling) to the
House of Lords and winning was an amazing experience. It
made me appreciate how one claim can have such an effect on
the law and insurance practice. Over my 30-plus years in the
insurance market, I have been responsible for change to claims
management, and in my professional career, I have been asked
by Lloyds for input into key market claims initiatives.
What has been the biggest challenge you have encountered?
The biggest challenge is ensuring that we are always
innovative and up-to-date with technology so that we can
respond to our customers’ demands and needs in an ever-changing
