We are now into the second quarter of the year. When reviewing the financial statements for the end of the first quarter it is apparent we are still experiencing some contraction. However when looking at some critical numbers, like registrations for this month, it appears some things we are doing are starting to slow our decline. This is good news. However, we need to continue to be proactive with our ideas and actions to move our association in a direction that is upstream to the overall horse market. This includes a lot of “thinking out of the box”. I know some of you have heard that quote by me few times now. She made a commitment to their club to double their membership and they were able to accomplish that in April of this year. I called Kristy and asked what main item she attributed this accomplishment to. She replied that “diversity was the key component”. What she meant by that was that showing horses was not the main ingredient to their club functions but utilizing Miniature horses in several genres that members could come up with. Kristy’s dynamic thinking is what demonstrates why the Miniature horse is “the horse for everyone”.
