The Company also took the unprecedented approach this year in openly advertising and recruiting for the positions of International Team Managers and Selectors. The Test Matches versus Scotland and Wales were once again staged in October with England victorious in the Ladies and Men’s Tests v Scotland, whilst Wales won the Mixed Test. The support of The Co-operative Funeralcare in this initiative is much appreciated. Finally the Company wishes to advise that the End of Year Accounts which are contained in a specific booklet have been approved by the Board at its meeting on 23rd March 2016. However, due to ongoing discussions with the Auditors over a short term debtor the Auditors statement is still to be finalised. The Year Ahead The focus for the year ahead will again be the continued commercial income generation of the Company and development support for the sport throughout England. The Company continues to develop its activities to make the sport attractive to the commercial companies with over 60 hours of bowls scheduled to appear on television. This gives the Company confidence that the % of income between commercial and affiliation fees will become narrower over the year. In addition the sport needs to work collectively to find ways to introduce the commercial partners to all of the membership and to demonstrate that their investment in the sport is justified. The support the membership is seeking from the Company will continue to increase, helped by the commitment of the Company to spend 15% of the 2015-2016 Affiliation fees in this area. This has to be seen as a positive, as the sport as a whole wants to see the facilities continue to operate and encourage the recruitment of new bowlers and just as important the retention of existing bowlers.
