Special ticket packages were made available that enabled a donation to be made to support breast cancer research at Karmanos Cancer Institute, and included a 2016 limited-edition Pink Out the Park T-shirt. Delta Air Lines, the Official Airline of the Detroit Tigers, returned as the host sponsor for this year’s Pink Out the Park and provided a free pink visor to the first 10,000 women who attended. Media sponsors for Pink Out the Park included FOX Sports Detroit and CBS Radio Detroit: WWJ Newsradio 950; 97.1 The Ticket; 98.7 AMP Radio; 99.5 WYCD; 104.3 WOMC; and CBS Sports Radio 1270 WXYT. There were several activities supporting breast health awareness, including pre-game and breast cancer experts, and a special on-field pre-game ceremony at 12:30 p.m. honoring breast cancer survivors. Pink and breast cancer awareness merchandise was on sale in The D Shop, with a portion of proceeds benefitting breast cancer research. There were 50/50 raffles held at both Tigers-Rangers games on May 6 and May 7 with proceeds benefitting the Karmanos Cancer Institute and the Detroit Tigers Foundation. FOX Sports Detroit provided cheer cards so fans could write the name of a loved one battling cancer or honor the memory of someone lost to the disease. Fans displayed their signs with inspiring messages at the end of the fifth inning. Pink bats autographed by Tigers players Ian Kinsler, J.D. Martinez, Jose Iglesias, and Nick Castellanos were on sale at the Tigers Authentics kiosk and portions of the proceeds also benefitted breast cancer research.
