SPECIAL SECTION Neurotrauma AXIOBIONICS:   SHAPING REHABILITATION FOR THE FUTURE 58 Barefoot! For most people, there is a limited appeal to going barefoot – and when we do choose to wear nothing on our feet – well, it’s often not even noticed. But for someone with cerebral palsy, who has always needed to wear a brace and a heavy shoe to walk, moving around barefoot is wonderful. This is possible for the clients of AxioBionics, an Ann Arbor-based company that is reshaping the future of rehabilitation. They design, manufacture and fit a wide array of innovative and life-changing devices for people with conditions affecting their musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Through research and technology, AxioBionics offers more freedom to people that have had few real choices in the treatment of their condition. Innovative Health - Summer 2016
