Even though the CFF’s work in Flint has always been an important weapon against childhood obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, the current Water Crisis makes it more vital than ever. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, a healthy lifestyle is one of the few things that can counteract lead poisoning. In response to the crisis, the CFF has a new global outreach campaign called “I Crim For Flint.” Donations to the “I Crim For Flint” initiative will support wellness programs that help mitigate the effects of lead exposure. Donors can take part in the “Virtual Crim,” recruit a team to participate and raise funds by running or walking in the HealthPlus Crim Festival of Races, or donate outright. The CFF is also paying the entry fees of 2,000 Flint residents to encourage local participation and make the Crim Races accessible to people who might not normally participate. All the “I Crim For Flint” proceeds go directly to local programs, making this fundraiser a tangible way for people all over the world to show their support for Flint. Forty years ago, the Crim Fitness Foundation decided to invest in Flint, and has remained committed to the community through the many hardships the city has experienced. There is much more to Flint than contaminated drinking water and emergency managers, and CFF is determined to help the city and its residents reach their full potential. The people of Flint are tough, and many of them work hard every single day to improve their city. With the support of organizations like CFF, maybe one day the world will set aside Flint’s negative image and see it instead as a story of success. Crim Fitness Foundation 452 S.
