Election Nomination Notice for GAE Fund for Public Education An election will be held in March/April 2016 to elect District Representatives for the GAE Fund for Public Education (GAE-FPE) in the following districts: District One – To succeed Karen Solheim, Retired, Oconee County Association of Educators District Two – Vacant, succession rules do not apply District Two – Vacant, succession rules do not apply Successful candidates will be elected for a three year term beginning at the first official meeting following the election. Any current GAE member in the district who has been a member for one full year and who is a current GAE-FPE contributor is eligible to be a candidate. A successor representative shall come from a local unit other than that of which the retiring representative was a member at the time of his/her election. Members who are appointed to GAE-FPE by the GAE President serve in an interim capacity which does not constitute a full term and these members are eligible to run for a vacant position in their district. Members of the GAE Board of Directors may not serve as a GAE-FPE Representative. s GAE members interested in qualifying as a candidate as his/her District Representative must submit an official nomination form to Chris Baumann, GAE Executive Director between September 1st and November 15th. 26 | KNOW • Volume 13 Issue 3 Nomination Procedure Candidates for GAE Fund for Public Education Committee must use the official nomination form available on the GAE website or in the official publication. The nomination should be mailed or transmitted directly to the office of the Executive Director. GAE will not accept responsibility for non-receipt of nominations addressed to any other person or office at GAE. Nomination forms for GAE-FPE Representatives must be postmarked or transmitted between September 1st and November 15th. Candidates who wish to submit a statement (up to 250 words) and photo for GAE’s publication and/or website may submit them with the nomination form by mail, or may email them (preferably) directly to Herby Agnew, Editor, at Herby.Agnew@gae.org. Statements exceeding the 250-word limit will be edited to delete all words following the 250th word. Statements and photos must be received by February 1, 2016 in order to be published online and in print.
