Election Nomination Notice for GAE District Directors An election will be held in March/April 2016 to elect directors in the following districts: District One – To succeed Jim Barrett, Walker County Association of Educators District One – To succeed Robin Fox, Gordon County Calhoun GAE Unit District Two – Formerly Tiffany Fannin, Cobb County Association of Educators, position now vacant, succession rules do not apply District Four – To succeed Moansenee Lewis Conyers, Richmond County Association of Educators Candidates for District Director shall be non-supervisory Active Certified or Active Educational Support members. A successor District Director shall come from a local unit other than that of which the retiring Director was a member at the time of his/her election. The term of office for District Directors shall be three years. The term shall commence on the day following the NEA Convention. District Directors may not serve two consecutive terms of office and may be elected to no more than two terms to the same office. Please review the GAE Uniform Code of Elections (UCOE) on our website at www.gae.org for a detailed explanation of the rules and procedures for candidates including eligibility, nomination procedures, publication procedures, and campaign procedures. To access this document go the www.gae.org, login into the member site, go to MEMBERSHIP & ADMIN, click on MEMBER CENTER, then Governance Documents, and then open the Representative Assembly and Board of Directors Policies document. The UCOE begins in Section 12.100 of the Representative Assembly and Board of Directors Policies. Nomination Procedure Candidates for GAE District Director must use the official nomination form available on the GAE website or in the official publication. The nomination should be mailed or transmitted directly to the office of the Executive Director. GAE will not accept responsibility for nonreceipt of nominations addressed to any other person or office at GAE. Nomination forms for GAE District Director must be postmarked or transmitted between September 1st and November 15th. Candidates who wish to submit a statement (up to 250 words) and photo for GAE’s publication and/or website may submit them with the nomination form by mail, or may email them (preferably) directly to Herby Agnew, Editor, at Herby.Agnew@gae.org. Candidate Statements exceeding the 250-word limit will be edited to delete all words following the 250th word. Statements and photos must be received by February 1, 2016 in order to be published online and in print. s Candidates for District Director shall submit nominations to the GAE Executive Director between September 1, 2015 and November 15, 2015 on the official nomination form.
