Election Nomination Notice for NEA Directors and GAE At-Large Directors An election will be held at the 2015 GAE Spring Representative Assembly to elect the NEA Directors, the Administrator At-Large Director and the GAE ESP At-Large Director as follows: NEA Director Majority Post To succeed Patrick Crabtree, Atlanta Association of Educators NEA Alternate Director Majority Post Vacant GAE Administrator At-Large Director Formerly Tonia Mason, Richmond County Association of Educators, position now vacant GAE ESP At-Large Director To succeed Lois Butler, Worth County Education Association Election Nomination Notice for Candidates for GAE District Director 2015 Election An election will be held in March/April 2015 to elect directors in the following districts: Election Nomination Notice for GAE Retired Delegates to the 2015 Spring Representative Assembly 28 | KNOW • Volume 12 Issue 3 Candidates shall submit nominations to the GAE Executive Director between September 1, 2014 and November 15, 2014 on the official nomination form. NEA Director and NEA Alternate Director Candidates shall be non-supervisory Active members. All candidates for NEA Director shall have been Active members for at least two years immediately preceding the election. The term of office for NEA Directors shall be three years. The term shall commence on the day following the NEA Convention. NEA Directors may be elected to no more than two terms to the same office. Terms may be consecutive. Candidates for GAE At-Large Director positions shall hold the membership category for which he/she is being nominated. The term of office for At-Large Directors shall be three years. The term shall commence on the day following the NEA Convention. At-Large Directors may not serve two consecutive terms of office and may be elected to no more than two terms to the same office. An elected At-Large Director shall cease to be a voting member of the Board of Directors on the date it is determined that the total GAE membership in his/her category falls below representation requirements. At-Large candidates may come from any district. Please review the GAE Uniform Code of Elections (UCOE) on our website at www.gae.org for a detailed explanation of the rules and procedures for candidates including eligibility, nomination procedures, publication procedures, and campaign procedures. Nomination Procedure Candidates for NEA Directors and GAE At-Large Directors must use the official nomination form available on the GAE website or in the official publication. The nomination should be mailed or transmitted directly to the office of the Executive Director. GAE will not accept responsibility for non-receipt of nominations addressed to any other person or office at GAE. Nomination forms must be postmarked or transmitted between September 1st and November 15th. Candidates who wish to submit a statement (up to 250 words) and photo for GAE’s publication and/or website may submit them with the nomination form by mail, or may email them (preferably) directly to Kevin.Pearson@gae.org. Candidate Statements exceeding the 250-word limit will be edited to delete all words following the 250th word. Statements and photos must be received by February 1, 2015 in order to be published online and in print. ELECTION NOTICE GAE is accepting nominations for Retired Delegates to the 2015 GAE Spring Representative Assembly. Only a GAE-Retired member may serve as a delegate or nominate a person to serve in this position. If you would like to be a candidate in this election, or if you wish to nominate a GAE-Retired member, mail or fax the nomination form, postmarked no later than January 3, 2015, to the Georgia Association of Educators, Credentials and Elections-Retired, 100 Crescent Centre Parkway, Suite 500, Tucker, Georgia 30084-7050. You may nominate yourself to be a delegate. The election for GAE Retired Delegates will be held in January/February 2015 via internet voting. The election results will be available by March 1st. Members who do not desire to vote using the internet may request a paper ballot. Send your request for a paper ballot in writing to Georgia Association of Educators, Attn: Paper Ballot Request, 100 Crescent Centre Parkway, Suite 500, Tucker, Georgia 30084-7050. You may fax your request to (678) 837-1175. All paper ballot requests should include your name, address, local association, telephone number and email address (if available). Paper ballots requests must be received no later than January 15, 2015. Ballots must be returned to GAE postmarked no later than February 15, 2015. Once a paper ballot has been requested, the member’s online voting access will be disabled and the member may not cast a ballot using the online internet voting process. Paper ballot requests received are effective for all internet elections for the 2014-2015 year only. The election for GAE Retired Delegates will be held in January/February 2015 via internet voting.
