I advocate for teachers who give their all each and
every day to go beyond the standards to assure their
students’ academic growth.
Jatawn Robinson, Atlanta Public Schools
Growing up in the Thomasville community in Atlanta,
I had to endure environmental elements in addition to
problems at home. School was my safe haven.
From the office staff to the cafeteria workers, to our
resource officer and my teachers,
I felt safe and loved at school. I was taught that I
mattered and that I was more than what I saw every
day growing up. I was taught that I had a place in this
world to make a difference. When I started my career
in education, I vowed that I would ALWAYS make my
students and all that I encountered feel that way.
Today, I have been blessed to return to Thomasville
Heights Elementary School as the school secretary/
bookkeeper. I advocate for those who don’t know
how to use their voice. I advocate so THAT all
children feel safe and loved at school. I advocate so
that stakeholders aren’t taken advantage of. I advocate
for my own children who attend public schools. I
advocate for classified employees who might not
be aware of their rights. I advocate because EVERY
student deserves a GREAT public school!

Wayne Huston, Jr.
My name is Wayne Huston, Jr. and I am an advocate
for public education.
I advocate for general education students who
are overlooked because they are not in the gifted
program or do not have an IEP. These students have
a right to a quality and equitable education as well
but often are not the focus of teaching and learning
because special funds are not attached to them.
I am an advocate for the teachers who give their
heart and soul to the profession. Teachers, who go
into classrooms daily and provide quality bell-to-bell
instruction, only to be told that they aren’t supposed
to receive a rating higher than three because
administrators are told that they can’t give a score of
four to teachers.
Finally, I advocate for quality public schools where all
students have equal access to books, technology, and
other tools for learning regardless of their ethnicity,
socioeconomic background, or neighborhood. I
advocate for schools that are funded adequately, have
qualified faculty and staff members that value teaching
and learning, and schools where students are viewed
as individuals, not as scores on a test.
I BELIEVE that every

education that is inclusive of their culture and values.
I BELIEVE that every EDUCATOR deserves the right to
a healthy balance between the classroom and home
instead of utilizing their instructional planning time to
study strategies that are trial and error.
I BELIEVE that every STAKEHOLDER desires a strong
public education system that allows students to
develop and maintain strong employability skills to
compete in a global society.
I BELIEVE in the importance of RECRUITING and
RETAINING quality teachers to build on the great
foundation in which
