BRAIN INJURY ASSOCIATION OF MICHIGAN’S
LEGACY TRIBUTE DINNER & AUCTION
The Brain Injury Association of Michigan’s (BIAMI) Legacy
Society recognizes its newest contributing members at the
“Legacy” Tribute Dinner each Spring. This year, in April,
the event was held in a gala event at the Diamond Banquet
and Conference Center in Novi. Selected individuals who
have contributed to the brain injury field, or have shown
a demonstrated leadership in working to improve lives of
persons with brain injuries or their families, are named as
This year, Michael F Dabbs, Past President of BIAMI, received
the Community Service and Leadership Award; and Martha
A Cassell, Founder and Consultant of Cassell and Associates,
received the Professional Service Award.
In 1999, the BIAMI’s Legacy Society was established to
develop a perpetual fund whose investment income provides
the financial base of operation support for the organization.
The annual fundraiser for BIAMI, the gala attracted more than
1,100 people for an evening of fine dining and entertainment.
The guest host this year was entertainer Roy Firestone.
As in other years, a highlight of the evening was an auction
of gifts, artwork, baskets, and travel packages. More than
110 separate lots were auctioned during the succesful gala.
