The Concrete Times - November 2015

The CONCRETE Times • November 15 FEATURE world of concrete 2016, Las vegas, nevada, usa turned 40, but still the “daddy”! the world of concrete show in las vegas, usa, is the show that all other industry events measure themselves against writes EDITOR steven callaghan. 4 My first visit to WOC was in 1993, when it was opening it’s doors in New Orleans as part of a 3 year location change cycle with the show alternating between “the Big Easy”, Florida and Las Vega, Nevada and I loved it! An entire exhibition venue, devoted solely to concrete, with exhibits ranging from admixtures to pumps, concrete repair to batching plants, plus live demos and an extensive education program, truly a concrete world, our very own Disneyland! I was delighted to be an exhibitor in 1995 at the Las Vegas edition, which I enjoyed immensely, so I heartily approved of the decision taken by the organisers, Hanley Wood Exhibitions, in the early part of the millennium, to make the show a permanent fixture in Vegas, in my view it’s spiritual home, where the show has been taken to another level. The2015 edition of WOC, saw the show celebrate its 40th birthday, attracting 55,000+ professional registrants and showcasing over 1,400 leading suppliers. So what’s cooking for WOC 2016? The show proper kicks off on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 and WOC 2016 will be even bigger, with more exhibitors from around the world, exhibiting in special product and action areas, including The Producer Center, a marketplace of materials, equipment, demos, and seminars for concrete producers; Material Handling, offering trucks, excavators and more for material delivery, distribution, concrete placement, and earth moving; Concrete Repair & Demolition, housing a display of surface preparation equipment, scarifying, sawing equipment, concrete repair, and other demolition products; World of Masonry, showcasing products, tools, information, and technology for masonry professionals; Technology for Construction, featuring the newest products and tools for the commercial construction industry from top information technology and systems providers; and Concrete Surfaces & Decorative Pavilion showcasing the popularity of decorative concrete for both commercial and residential applications including concrete coatings, waterproofing products and technologies and more.
