The CONCRETE Times • FEB 2015 The UK CONCRETE SHOW 2015 - New hall layout NEW HALL LAYOUT FOR UKCS2015 MOVES THE BIG KIT TO CENTRE MOST OF THE BIG KIT ON DISPLAY at the show now has it’s own better situated and more easily accessible zone right at the heart of the UK industry showcase. Since the inagural edition of The UK CONCRETE Show in 2011, the ‘big kit’ zone has been situated on the right hand side of the show hall near to the wall. But concrete production is all about ‘big kit’ so we’ve listened to the industry and reorganised the hall to poistion the show’s exceptional range of plant and equipment, smack bang in the centre of the hall (see image right for perspective, the whole floor plan on page 42). VISITORS TO BE GREETED BY FULL RANGE OF EQUIPMENT As they enter the show, the visitor will be greeted by a 2 wide and 6 deep selection of stands, showing a full range of state of the art equipment used in the industry - among the equipment on display will be Mobile Boom Pumps, Truck Mixers, Mobile Batching Plants, Volumetric Truck Mixers and Washwater Treatment Plant. Exhibiting there are the really big names of the concrete industry returning to the show for another year - Putzmeister, who have been ever present since the inaugural show in 2011, Liebherr, Hymix, CIFA via their UK distributors Spanners for mixers and Danfords for pumps, Siltbuster, concrete plant specialists, Utranazz and volumetric truck manufacturers, Reimer. NEW NAMES ALONGSIDE SHOW STALWARTS ON THE PLAN There are also some new names on the plan - Truck Busters are the newly appointed UK distributors for Germany’s Ammann Elba Beton and will be exhibiting the Ammann range of equipment for the production, transport and handling of concrete for the first time at the show. Hopkins Concrete is a family owned and run company based in Wincanton, Somerset, that has been operating for over 30 years. They will be showing their new drum cleaning system, Ready Jet, that promises to make a day with a Kango in the truck drum removing buildup a thing of the past. HALL NOT DOMINATED BY LARGE EQUIPMENT - AS PROMISED When the first conversations with the industry about the future show took place in 2010, reservations were expressed by a number of non-large equipment manufacturers who had attended other construction events at home and abroad and felt overshadowed by the huge equipment looming over their stands. ‘BIG KIT’ AREA NOT TO EXCEED 20% OF SHOW HALL Show organisers, Marwood Events, undertook then that the surface area of the hall occupied by large equipment would never exceed 20% of the total and, even with the expansion of the big kit area for 2015, the ‘Big Kit’ zone still only occupies 19.3% of the total area of the exhibition. 42
