It’s clear to those that have met me, that, regrettably, I am not in the first flush of youth and the picture above confirms it for those yet to have had the pleasure! Despite this, I am a confirmed advocate of the use of technology in business, which, I feel, is a much under-used tool in our industry. Sir Martin Sorrell of leading advertising agency, WPP, said recently that 2015 will see digital advertising revenue overtake print for the first time ever in the UK. The number of stories and quotes in the mainstream media that are drawn from Twitter has increased massively during 2014 and this trend no signs of abating and amongst young people. Text and email have already become old hat as they communicate using various social media platforms. Make-up blogger Zoe Sugg has almost 4 million followers on Twitter and almost 5 million viewings on her You Tube channel from young girls aspiring to her particular approach to beauty. To put this into perspective, it’s the equivalent of a low audience on Eastenders, one of the UK’s most popular soap operas. At UKCS2015, using a combination of the show smart device app and our new Twitter Zone, we are offering all attendees the chance to use this completely free of charge media, effectively promoting their business to the largest audience of concrete people that assembles in the UK. So, set up a Twitter account if you haven’t got one and make your first “follow” @UKConcreteShow and we will follow you back. Then, make plenty of tweets at the show, making sure that you use @UKConcreteShow or hashtag #UKCS2015 in your texts to see them on the Twitter Walls around the hall at the show and on the app in the social media tab. Please also log on to the show app from the website - no downloads, it works on every phones, tablets or computers and will allow you to maximise your time at the show, receive show info whilst on the hoof and, importantly, let you network with other attendees before, during and even after the event - completely free of charge. Enjoy this issue and the show! Steven Callaghan, Editor Tel: 020 3086 9296 Ext 4 steven@marwoodevents.com
