Bisbee’s supports the conservation of Markhor by local communities. arkhor We are in a mountain range south of Tajikistan, not far from the border with Afghanistan, and are looking for a rare mountain goat, the markhor or screw-horned goat. So far we only see bare rocks, shrubs and some juniper trees, but not a single larger animal. The sun still stays high and the air is flickering from the heat. However, we have the impression that we can see from our view point most of the cliff and it is hard for us to imagine that an animal of the size larger than a domestic goat can here hide from us. We sit on little rocks from where we have a good outlook over the cliff, together with Hakim, a hunter from the nearby village who used to come to this place to hunt for “kelklik”, the chukar (Screw-horned goats) in Tajikistan by Stefan Michel and Khalil Karimov
