Cultural and community development needs are an area of our focus too. Getting the So. African people involved and helping them understand why our programs are so important to them as well as the rest of the world is as critical as prosecuting poachers. This is especially true because these impoverished communities are where the low level, front line poachers and informants can be conscripted from. The Bisbee’s Conservation Fund provides youth education, sponsors local soccer teams, provides schools with equipment and meals, and even provide some rather large church services right on the Nkwe Sanctuary property within yards of our young rhino herd. 38 BISBEE’S CONSERVATION JOURNAL Q1/Q2 • 2016
