We begin by working with existing animations, seeing how surprising objects can create different sounds, then we move on to creating a short stop-motion animation from scratch – and complete it with sound effects. This workshop is suitable for beginners. £80 per person (includes lunch and refreshments) Out of the Shadows: Effective Lighting in Film This hands-on session, led by David Coultas, takes you through the basics of film lighting. You’ll use affordable lighting sources in a variety of spaces, and leave the day inspired and more confident in your ability to light your films more effectively. What emerges are wonderfully whacky and uniquely individualistic steampunk characters who’ll end up starring in their very own short animation. At this creative session, you’ll be invited to look at specially selected films from the world renowned BFI National Archive. Taking inspiration from them, participants will then devise beautifully crafted poetic performances, which will be filmed and sent out to each course member.
