Wed 22 – Sun 26 Nov EVENTS 24 book online at bfi.org.uk FRI 24 NOV 18:15 NFT3 SAT 25 NOV 13:20 NFT3 WED 22 NOV 18:10 NFT3 Thrillrides TRT 90min Sibling rivalries, challenging homecomings, missing children – nothing is what it seems in this programme of shorts, an atmospheric selection of thrillers that explores the darkness of human relationships. This work is short, slick and tense, with major thrills to leave you gasping. Mommie Dearest TRT 90min Being a mum is where women experience the harshest judgements: ‘not good enough, doing it wrong, you should try this’ etc. This most epic of responsibilities is fraught with challenges, and ranging from comedy to tragedy, these short films show just a glimpse of what life as a mum is really about. Don’t Let the Bastards Grind You Down TRT 105min Brave, angry and passionate women lead this programme of short films to open the eighth edition of Underwire Festival. With perseverance and sisterhood, they face challenges head-on. Whatever the outcomes, the women in these films show characters who persist, resist and stand up. The event will be followed by drinks in the Blue Room (subject to capacity) Spinosaurus 5x5 Tentacles Are Included: The Short Films of Kate Herron + Q&A with the filmmaker TRT 90min Kate Herron’s films have been a staple of Underwire Festival since the beginning. Her films have weaved between genres – horror, comedy, drama and sci-fi – with effortless style and with a clear cinematic voice that’s equal parts hilarious and twisted. Now preparing her jump into features, we revisit the short films of this dynamic new voice in British filmmaking. THU 23 NOV 20:40 NFT2 Lambing Season La Madre Beuna Q&A
