Foothills Animal Shelter 2014 Report to the Community 11 VOLUNTEERISM Volunteers make up 62 different roles for the organization, from assisting patrons in finding the perfect pet, to supporting our Health Care Team with surgical and patient care services. In 2014, 455 volunteers contributed a record-breaking 33,036 hours of their time—the equivalent of 15.75 full-time staff positions. This impressive amount of time does not include the countless hours our volunteer foster families spent caring for infant and medically-fragile pets in their homes. Our animal enrichment activities include: • Play groups and walking programs—helping dogs burn mental and physical energy that ultimately results in happier and healthier pets • Cat socialization—giving cats the affection and attention they need for their physical and mental well-being • Real Life Room—spending one-on-one time with dogs in a home-like setting ANIMAL ENRICHMENT Making Our Cats Beautiful Our volunteers make a huge difference in many different ways. Two special volunteers, Milli and Susan, make up our cat “HasMat” team, coming in twice per week to shave, wash and brush matted kitties, making them more comfortable and beautiful for adoption. 22,776 HOURS animal enrichment, care & healthcare 4,867 HOURS administration, facilities & other 3,038 HOURS customer care 1,253 HOURS marketing & fundraising
