Awesome Man of the Month Ed Carcarey Let’s talk about mindset. You’ve admitted in your live presentations that you used to have a “bad attitude.” How did you shift to the winning mindset you have today? Having a winning mindset will take the same amount of effort as having a healthy body! It’s a commitment we make every dayto continue to work at getting better. Here are some of the steps I’ve learned to take from my mentors. 1. Protect your gates – Your eyes and ears are the gate keepers to your mind, which is your most important asset. You decide who and what you let in. 2. Educate verses Entertainment – take 30 minute a day away from your entertainment and educate yourself. Read, listen to motivational information or research a subject online. 15 | SavvyBizWomen 3. Crab Mentality – surround yourself with people who inspire and encourage you. People who will help you out of your bucket and not pull you down every time you try to get free! 4. Baby Steps – take small action steps every day. Be fearless. 5. Find your Passion – this will be your fuel to get you where you want to go, and it has its own built in GPS system! 6. Mentors – choose wisely but find at least one for each of the main areas your of life. Mentors care more about your future than your feelings! That is why friends and family can NOT be your mentor. They will help you to apply steps 1 through 5. You have your own radio show called “Passion is Everything!” Everyone is using that word right now. What does “passion” really mean? Why is passion everything? I have been studying and pursuing this subject for the last 25 years and still have only scratched the surface! The most important thing about passion is also the most misunderstood. The misunderstanding isn’t a really bad thing but it has caused people to get off track. Passion is always directed towards people and NOT things. People have told me for years that I am passionate about radio (I’ve worked in the industry for 25 years) but that would not be correct. Radio is a tool that I use to serve the small business owner! Entrepreneurs unleash my passion not radio. Our job, professions, business, products, services, skills, talents, hobbies and resources are not our passion but they are tools to serve our passion. We can live without all these things but we cannot live without people. Passion is everything because life is too short to pursue the wrong things! Find your passion and you will find your life!
