Port of Basrah, Iraq JOB DATE DETAILS KANOURA April 2013 On her maiden voyage the fully laden bulk carrier ran aground off the east coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Within hours FUKADA Salvage and SVITZER Salvage were contracted to refloat the vessel. The vessel was successfully redelivered to her owners. CMA CGM ONYX May 2013 SVITZER Salvage were contracted to provide assistance for the vessel aground off Port Said, with a salvage master and naval officer aboard. The refloat was successful. TWINKLE ISLAND June 2013 The vessel was damaged and suffered from a crack in the hull. SVITZER Salvage subcontracted Hydrex to execute the operation so the vessel could retain safe sailing for Hamburg. EUGENE MAERSK June 2013 During severe weather fire broke out in 4 containers on the aft part of the vessel. The fire was fully extinguished and the damaged containers were offloaded with the assistance of SVITZER Salvage. SUNNY OCEAN June 2013 Capesize bulk carrier ran aground off Batam Island, Indonesia. SVITZER Salvage assisted the refloat by mobilising 3 additional tugs. The vessel was successfully refloated. ORIENTAL PIONEER July 2013 Collided bulker off eastern coast of Singapore experienced oil spillage due to a breach in one of the fuel oil tanks. Under the BIMCO Wreckhire Agreement SVITZER Salvage was awarded the contract of rendering underwater repairs, pumping and lightering services. MT OT ILIA July 2013 The product tanker was adrift and on fire north of Cristobal, Panama. SVITZER was contracted by owner and underwriters. In close collaboration with firefighting experts of our OPA-90 partner, IES in the US, our Salvage Master managed to extinguish the fire. DONG-A LETO July 2013 The vessel suffered from water ingress in the engine room. Using mobilised pumping equipment, SVITZER Salvage managed to stabilise the water ingress. RAMCO CRUSADOR August 2013 The vessel suffered from an explosion off the coast of Fortaleza, Brazil. SVITZER were contracted to assist the AHTS tug. The vessel sank in 25 metres of water prior to the arrival of the SVITZER team. SVITZER Salvage was contracted to remove all bunkers and other hydrocarbons from the wreck. MAERSK KAMPALA August 2013 The 5,579 TEU container vessel caught fire on deck at approx. 50 NM south of the Suez Canal, Egypt. SVITZER firefighting teams aboard assisted the crew in extinguishing the fire. VAL E INDONESIA September 2013 Loaded bulker ran aground at San Marcos Bay, Brazil. Approx. 60,000 tonnes of iron ore from the Vale Indonesia were transferred to another bulk carrier. Although the vessel had suffered damages to the ballast tanks, SVITZER Salvage managed to refloat it successfully. FORMOSA FALCO N September 2013 Fully laden product tanker ran aground off Freeport, Bahamas. An attempt to refloat the vessel using local SVITZER tugs was initiated to deballast the vessel. TAB ERNACL E GRAC E October 2013 Laden bulk carrier ran aground off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. The vessel was successfully refloated and safely returned to the owners in Colombo by SVITZER Salvage. Recent Salvage operations So far the SVITZER team working in the Northern Arabic Gulf on the Iraq Debris & Wreck Removal contract have found six shipwrecks and more than 800 ‘anomalies’ (seen as red and blue dots on the left-hand side of the map). 11
