Iris Quadrio
PARTNER, MARVAL O’FARRELL &
MAIRAL, ARGENTINA
Iris Quadrio has been practising intellectual
property law since 1988 with a focus on trademark
and trade dress issues. Her particular focus is on
registration, management of IP portfolios and
trademark opposition proceedings. She has served
as a member of the board of directors of INTA
and received its volunteer services award for the
advancement of its objectives. She has shared her
expertise through her longstanding position as
an assistant professor in IP law at the Law School
of the Catholic University of Argentina. She is a
member of INTA, ASIPI, AIPPI, ITMA and PTMG.
Anette Rasmussen
PARTNER, AWA, DENMARK
Anette Rasmussen has worked with intellectual
property law since starting as an examiner
with the Norwegian Patent Office in 1998. Her
experience with IP rights focuses on trademarks,
domain names, marketing practices and she is
well-versed in European IP legislation. Focusing
on long-term client relationships, she advises
clients from a diverse range of industries on
worldwide strategy, prosecution and enforcement
of IP rights, infringements, ownership and validity
disputes. Rasmussen works closely with some of
the most valuable Danish brands and has assisted
with their expansion and establishment in respect
of trademark registration and enforcement in
strategic markets. She currently serves as first vicepresident
of ECTA, in addition to being a council
member and member of management.
Sophie Rich
PARTNER, HERBERT SMITH
FREEHILLS, UK
Sophie Rich is the head of Herbert Smith
Freehills’ life sciences practice. She qualified in
1989 and became a partner at the firm in 1996.
Her career has focused on very high value and
technically complex patent actions for originator
pharmaceutical and other technology-driven
companies. Her clients include Sanofi, AbbVie
and Roche and she has been involved in a number
of the precedent setting actions in the patent
field. She has extensive experience of litigation
in other European countries and frequently acts
as the lead partner on pan-European patent
enforcement actions.
Mahua Roy Chowdhury
PRINCIPAL PARTNER, ROYZZ & CO,
INDIA
Mahua Roy Chowdhury is the founder and
principal partner of Royzz & Co. She started
her career as a litigator in the Delhi High Court,
during which time she initiated proceedings
against parties including the Delhi Police, Indian
Army, and Delhi Municipality. Chowdhury
now specialises in litigating matters relating to
trademark, copyright, and patent infringement.
She has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of
patents, and she assists clients in resolving
infringement disputes related to complex
technology such as software. Alongside her patent
work, Chowdhury has coordinated more than
500 anti-counterfeiting enforcement actions
across India in collaboration with police and
investigation agencies.
Regula Rüedi
PARTNER, E BLUM & CO,
SWIZTERLAND
Regula Rüedi joined E Blum & Co as a trainee in
1990. Six years later, she became head of the firm’s
chemistry group. She works across all aspects of
patent law, including litigation work relating to
patent infringement and invalidity, with a focus
on matters relating to the chemistry, materials,
pharmacy, foodstuffs, and analytics industries.
Rüedi also offers expert opinions related to patent
law. Rüedi has a PhD in organometallic chemistry
and spent five years working on analytical
chemistry, materials and surface analysis in
industry.
Cordula Schumacher
PARTNER, ARNOLD RUESS,
GERMANY
Cordula Schumacher is a partner at Arnold
Ruess and her expertise in IP law includes
patent infringement and validity proceedings.
She has litigated numerous pharma cases and
has been involved in supplementary protection
certificate issues, second medical use claims
and biopharmaceuticals. Another focus is the
telecoms sector and fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory
(FRAND) licensing, and she is
leading a number of infringement proceedings
on standard-essential patents. She is fluent in
English, French and Spanish.
