SILKE SEHM
Job title: Member of the executive board
Company: Hannover Re
Silke Sehm was appointed as a full
member of the executive board
of Hannover Re in March 2019.
Throughout her more than 20 years
with the Hanover-based reinsurer,
she adopted as her leadership
principles that people should
enjoy working together and remain
curious.
Professionally, she is all about
markets, clients and products; less
common subjects like prime twins
also fascinate the 51-year-old mathematician. In a world that has
become volatile and complex, constant learning and being on top of
relevant topics is a prerequisite.
From 1996 on she applied her curiosity for Hannover Re as she
embarked on her professional career as an actuary and underwriter
for property & casualty business. Two years later she moved to
Hannover Re’s Advanced Solutions Germany department and dealt
with structured reinsurance and tailor-made reinsurance solutions.
In 2008 she took over worldwide responsibility as managing
director overseeing all structured reinsurance business written by the
Hannover Re Group with a premium volume of €3 billion as of today.
As a member of Hannover Re’s executive board she is now responsible
for Advanced Solutions worldwide, the global catastrophe business,
retrocession and group protection, ILS and property & casualty treaty
business in the French-speaking and Nordic markets in Europe as
well as Central and Eastern Europe and Africa.
For the tasks that lie ahead of her and her teams, Sehm will focus
on the growing importance of working together to be successful. She
is a strong advocate of sharing information and operating in a climate
of respect, trust and freedom.
