Charles R. Baker Memorial Library Having started small as a collection comprised of one book and the transactions of the Associations’ meetings, the AAO Library has now become the world’s largest collection of orthodontic books, journals and items. In 1951, the AAO Library collection was moved from the American Dental Association library and the Northwestern University dental school library to the AAO headquarters in St. Louis. Over the next twenty years, Dr. Charles R. Baker laid the library’s foundation by collecting not only printed material but also orthodontic items. In 1971 the library was named for him. Today the Charles R. Baker Memorial Library houses over •. 3000 orthodontic/dental books •. 4000 orthodontic theses •. 80 orthodontic/dental journal titles •. 500 orthodontic items The archives of the Association are also housed in the library. The library collection and services are only available to AAO members. For more information about the Charles R.
